Family Ride On A Bike Along The Battle Road Of National Park Services

A children’s ride is organized by the New England Mountain Bike Association to celebrate the Minute Man National Historical Parks50th anniversary. Bike Ride Re-creates Paul Reveres Ride for Kids. The New England Mountain Bike Association hosted a family ride on a bike to recreate Paul Reveres’ ride along the National Park Services Battle Road between Lincoln and Concord, Massachusetts. This ride was part of the continuing celebration of the Minute Man National Historical Park’s 50th anniversary. It allowed children to experience the historic dirt road that played an important role in our nation’s independence.

The children and their parents enjoyed pedaling along the dirt path, which traverses old farmlands, and past the Meriams Corner, despite the rainy weather. After facing significant resistance from citizen farmers, the British were forced to retreat from Concord to Boston.

Nancy Nelson, Park Superintendant, said that it was a great occasion for the park as well as for families. It’s amazing to think that riding in the misty rain on a bicycle and learning about the history of our nation could be such a great way to learn! The New England Mountain Bike Association took the initiative to arrange this ride and invite families to visit the park. We are grateful.

It is being discussed that this event could be made an annual event and open to all.

We are grateful to our volunteers and New England Mountain Bike Patrol, as well as Nancy Nelson, Superintendant at the Minute Man National Historical Park for all their logistical and moral support.
